Zack Snyder’s space opera, rebel moon, bows out on Netflix in late 2023. Snyder wanted his 172-page Rebel Moon script to be a movie, which worried Netflix president Scott Stuber, who wanted the movie to be less than two hours. “Zack said, ‘If you ask me to do this in less than two hours, I’m going to lose the whole character. You won’t care about these people,’ explained Deborah Snyder, Zack’s wife and producing partner, at Vanity Fair. It’s a character story about how people can change, and redemption, and what are you willing to fight for…’ So he said, ‘How about I give you two movies? ‘
Snyder even shared how there will be “more explicit and harsher cuts” from both films. Snyder said everyone can enjoy and watch “the first version of Rebel Moon. However, the second cuts will be fun for Snyder’s devoted fanbase looking to take a “deeper and harder dive” into the material.
