Wolverine finds himself in a dire situation when he is caught by criminals who begin dismembering his body parts and selling them at auction.
The following article contains spoilers for Wolverine #26, on sale now from Marvel Comics.
Wolverine finds himself in an unpleasant situation when a villain known as the Merchant starts cutting off his body parts and then auctioning them off to the highest bidder in the latest issue of the X-Men character solo series.
Wolverine #26 comes from writer Benjamin Percy, artist Juan José Ryp, color artist Frank D’Aramata and VC’s letterwriter Cory Petit. Towards the end of the issue, Wolverine breaks into the Smithsonian Castle in Washington DC with Jeff Bannister, a retired CIA agent who was first introduced in 2020. Wolverine #1 (by Percy, Adam Kubert, Frank Martin and Petit), to investigate Legacy House, an underground criminal organization previously discovered by the hero Wolverine #9 (by Percy, Jubert, Martin and Petiti).
After an investigation, Wolverine and Jeff are caught by a woman who goes undercover and reveals themselves to be the Merchant, the man who collects and sells rare pieces of memorabilia from across the Marvel Universe inside the Legacy House. When meeting a Merchant for the first time at Wolverine #9, the hero — disguised as Patch, at the time — is shocked to see his own severed arm and extended Adamantium claw being sold by the villain.
Familiar X-Men Face Makes Bid to Kill Wolverine
Placing Wolverine in Adamantium’s handcuffs, the Merchant greeted the crowd of potential buyers. He immediately shot Wolverine in the head with the revolver he was holding, pulled out a knife, took out the bullet and sold it to the crowd for an initial offer of $10,000. Bullets followed by severed ears, eyes and others. Finally, someone stood up and made a different offer: they wanted to be the one to kill Wolverine. The final page of the issue reveals this individual is none other than Beast/Hank McCoy, although the reason is still unknown at this time.
Story continues in Wolverine #27, which releases November 9th. The synopsis reads, “ALL-NEW, ALL-SAVAGE WOLVERINE! WOLVERINE has sold out. BANNISTER has been ripped off. And as the dust settles, there’s something… different about Logan. Wolverine’s story in the Krakoan era takes a savage turn with a decision — and betrayal — that changes his life. everything!”
Wolverine #26 features cover art by Leinil Francis Yu and Romulo Fajardo Jr. and cover art variants by NetEase Games, Kev Walker and Java Tartaglia. This issue is on sale now from Marvel.
