Toei Animation will co-produce a new animation from French studio La Cachette

Toei-Animation will co-produce a French animation studio Studio La CachetteIt is (Star Wars: Visions Volume 2 “The Spy Dancer”) new series The Black Collegeit is announced.

The show is based on a French comic by Ulysses Malassagne, who is also a director and screenwriter of the animation. The Studio La Cachette website describes the synopsis as follows:

In a small boarding school lost in the middle of the Cantal mountains, five teenagers spend the autumn holidays with their jaded supervisor, Léna. But when they are accidentally cursed by a terrible witch, all hell breaks loose and the terrifying creatures of French folklore set off in pursuit…

The Black College will air on French DNA (also one of the project’s production partners), with an expected release window of fall 2023. Toei Animation owns the distribution and merchandising rights to the title.

Toei Animation says this partnership is part of its efforts to further develop the European market.
