The Inner Chambers starts streaming June 29, trailer and visual released

netflix announced that the Ōoku: the inner chambers The anime adaptation will begin streaming on the platform on June 29. A trailer and key visual for the show have also been released.

Ōoku: the inner chambers is based on the manga published by Hakusensha by Fumi Yoshinaga, which ran from 2004 to 2020 in Melody. Viz Media describes the plot of the manga as follows:

During the Edo period in Japan, a strange new disease called red pox began to attack men in the country. Eighty years after the first epidemic, the male population has dropped by seventy-five percent. Women assumed all the roles traditionally assigned to men, even that of shogun. Men, precious providers of life, are carefully protected. And the finest of men are sent to serve in the Inner Chamber of the Shogun…

Noriyuki Abe (Arad: Gyakuten no Wa, Kochoki: Wakaki Nobunaga) directs the anime to studio with Rika Takasugi () as a composer and screenwriter of the series, Youko Satou (love to kill) as a character designer, and Kenji Kawaii (The fire hunter) as a music composer. Meanwhile, the cast includes:

THE Ōoku: the inner chambers manga has been collected into nineteen tankoubon volumes. It previously inspired two live-action movies released in 2010 and 2012 and a 2012 live-action drama series.
