Sand Land video game features vehicular battles and desert exploration in trailer

Bandai Namco Entertainment released a trailer for land of sanda new action RPG inspired by the 2000 manga of dragonballIt is Akira Toriyama.

Set in a water-hungry desert world inhabited by both demons and humans, land of sand promises a “vast world” that players, as the tiny but superpowered “Fiend Prince” Beelzebub, can explore on foot or in vehicles as they search for a “legendary spring”. The game world will have secrets to uncover, characters to encounter, and threats such as huge sand-digging creatures, and the trailer also seems to hint at the presence of bases Beelzebub can sneak into.

Beelzebub has both super strength and telepathic abilities, and he’ll be able to put them to good use in melee remnants. However, land of sand will also feature a heavy dose of vehicular combat, giving a bit of a mad max-vibe to the game. Some of the preview vehicles include a tankette with a laser turret and a disproportionate amount of missiles, a bulky robot that leans on its fists, and an open-top robot that emphasizes devastating enemies from a distance. Bandai Namco says players will be able to customize their vehicles and equip them with loadouts.

The game’s website also reveals that in addition to tinkering with vehicles, players can take care of developing their own base “in a thriving town with the help of the people you meet along the way in the vast desert.” .

land of sand is developed by ILCA inc. for PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X/S and Steam. The release date is still secret.

THE land of sand the manga ran for 14 chapters in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump and is collected in one volume. Bandai Namco has announced the existence of a land of sand project last December, with an anime film adaptation revealed later that same month.

Viz Media describes the manga as follows:

In the distant future, war has destroyed the entire Earth, leaving only a barren wasteland where the water supply is controlled by the greedy king. Searching for a long-lost lake, Sheriff Rao asked the Demon King for help…and obtained the King’s son, Beelzebub, and his assistant, Thief. Together, the unlikely trio set out across the desert, battling dragons, bandits, and the deadliest enemy of all…the king’s army itself! It’s travel adventure and tank action in this new story from Akira Toriyama, the creator of Dragon Ball Z!
