YouTube channel Ayase/YOASOBI has released an English version music video of “Idol,” the popular opening theme song for the current broadcast. OSHI NO KO animated adaptation.

The English version of “Idol” was announced on May 18. The Japanese language music video was released on April 12, when the anime premiered, and currently has 119 million views. Naoya Nakayama (“Chika Dance” ending sequence from Kaguya-sama Love is War“stars we chase” performance sequence from Love Live! Nijigasaki High School Idol Club Season 2) directed, scripted and the unit made the animation MV.
As of this writing, the Japanese version of “Idol” is ranked number one on Billboard Japan’s Hot 100, TikTok Weekly Top 20, Streaming Songs, Top User Generated Songs, and Hot Animation charts. The song is based on the story “45510” written by the OSHI NO KO manga Aka Akasaka.

The manga, written by Akasaka with art by Mengo Yokoyaribegan serialization in Weekly Young Jump in 2020 and has 10 tankoubon volumes as of January 2023. The anime staff includes Daisuke Hiramaki (Selection project, asteroid in love) as a director, Chao Nekotomi (Shikimori is not just a cutie opening director and storyboarder, Selection project director of the dance part of episode 7 and storyboarder et al.) as assistant director, Kanna Hirayama (Rent a girlfriend) as character designer and lead character designer, and Jin Tanaka (Love live! Nijigasaki High School Idol Club, Relaxed camp) as the series’ composer. Doga Kobo is the animation production company.
