Thanks in part to ‘Godzilla Vs. Kong’, which features the two headliners facing off against each other (and another dangerous, more human-like creature). The film itself had to contend with a troublesome patch in the ongoing pandemic and a day-and-date release on HBO Max as well as theaters, but managed to overcome both challenges to become the second film in the Covid era to cross the $100 million mark. at the domestic box office, to $468 million globally.
Now, the film’s director, Adam Wingard, is back, and we know that his next film will be called ‘Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire’.

Yes, it sounds a bit like the two monsters are starting a fashion collaboration together, but the truth is, this is just the next big movie featuring them.

How is the story of ‘Godzilla x Kong’?

This new film follows Godzilla vs. Kong in an all-new cinematic adventure, pitting the almighty Kong and the fearsome Godzilla against colossal undiscovered threats lurking in our world, challenging their existence –– and our own.
This new epic story will delve deeper into the history of these Titans, their origins, and the mysteries of Skull Island and beyond, while unraveling the mythical battles that helped shape these extraordinary creatures and bond them to humanity forever.

Who is working on the new film?
Wingard made his name with smart low-budget horror, but has transitioned into a varied genre career that also includes the new film ‘Blair Witch’ and the manga adaptation ‘Death Note’ before he is hired to fight giant CG creatures.
He has several returning cast members, including Rebecca Hall as Dr. Ilene Andrews, Brian Tyree Henry as fan favorite Bernie Hayes and Kaylee Hottle as Kong Jia’s young human friend.
New to the Monsterverse this time around are Dan Stevens (who worked closely with Wingard on ‘The Guest’), Fala Chen’s ‘Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings’ and ‘Hunt for the Wilderpeople’s Rachel House.
The screenplay was created by Simon Barrett, a regular Wingard’s colleague, building on work by Jeremy Slater and Terry Rossio.
‘Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire’ is in production now and will hit theaters on March 15 next year.
