Here’s When Autumn Foliage Is Predicted To Peak In Your Country

Autumn is the favorite season of many travelers throughout the year. The temperate temperatures, fun seasonal activities, all the pumpkin flavors, and, of course, the foliage make fall a great season for road trips and weekend getaways. However, timing these visits to coincide with “peak” fall foliage is always tricky, and this year seems to be trending more slowly than usual in some areas.

AccuWeather predicts mild fall, with warmer temperatures likely to delay foliage display at a popular leaf-peeking destination. However, when they arrived, they predicted riots of color in the Northeast, Great Lakes, and Mississippi Valley regions.

AccuWeather shares a similar view, citing the drought experienced last summer in the Northeast region as a contributing factor to later foliage in the area. Similarly, higher temperatures in the Southeast can cause a bit of a delay. offers an interactive foliage map of the United States, showing when fall color is predicted to peak in your area. Peak times across the country as a whole seem to be firmly set in mid-October for 2022, depending on the area you want to visit.
