Everything We Know About Treason Season 2

Treason season 2 could happen at Netflix, and here is everything we know about the story, release, and cast – including Charlie Cox’s return.

Warning: Contains SPOILERS for Treason season 1!

Netflix’s Treason season 2 is a possibility, and here is what is known about the series. The first season released on the streaming service in December 2022 with Charlie Cox, Olga Kurylenko, and Oona Chaplin in the lead roles. Treason season 1 followed Cox’s Adam as he is thought to be a double agent working in MI6 for Russia and his fight to clear his name, protect his family, and help an old lover. The thrilling spy series leaves room for more stories to come.

The setup for season 2 comes with Treason season 1’s ending, as not every storyline is resolved. The five-episode first season does include some shocking moments that will impact what and who viewers will see in a potential second season. But where does the show’s future stand? Here’s everything we know about Treason season 2’s status, story, cast, and release date.

Is Treason Season 2 Happening On Netflix?

Netflix has yet to confirm that Treason season 2 is happening, and an announcement might not come. The spy thriller was announced as a limited series, which is usually the designation given for shows intended only to last one season. The show’s mixed reception with viewers has not stopped it from flying up Netflix’s streaming charts, so Treason season 2 could be announced later on if the streamer is happy enough with its performance.

Treason Season 2 Release Prediction

If Treason season 2 does happen, it likely will not be released until sometime in 2024. The first season took about a year to make from the time filming began until it was released. Considering creator Matt Charman likely still needs to develop the scripts for another season, Treason season 2’s release date will have to be in the somewhat distant future to allow its development to move along at a good pace.

Which Characters Can Return In Treason Season 2?

The Treason season 2 cast could feature some familiar characters returning depending on the direction the story goes. Olga Kurylenko’s Kara and Oona Chaplin’s Maddy are both strong contenders to reappear. It would seem unlikely that former Daredevil star Charlie Cox returns as Adam Lawrence after his death, but flashbacks could be used to keep him around. The Lawrence children, Callum (Samuel Leakey) and Ella (Beau Gadsdon), CIA agent Dede Alexander, and former MI6 Chief Martin Angelis (Ciarán Hinds) are also potential returning characters for Treason season 2. The series could take an anthology approach too and introduce a new cast of characters built around a treason case too.

Treason Season 2’s Story

Looking at what Treason season 2’s story could be presents several different potential options. If the series continues to follow Kara, the Russian spy could be featured in a story where Olga Kurylenko’s character is viewed as committing treason against her home country. The show could also follow Maddy’s attempts to get revenge on Dede and uncover some treasonous activity within the CIA. Treason season 2’s story could even be a prequel focused on Adam and Kara’s time in Baku that significantly impacted both of their lives. Since no story details are confirmed, the possibilities that exist for Treason season 2 to tell a compelling story are endless.
