I can be very picky with me sneakers, which is why I haven’t bought a new pair in what feels like forever. But I know comfortable and stylish shoes are a mainstay of my wardrobe and I have to fill my shelves with the shoes I want to wear 24/7. While there have been many rumors of a sustainable and celebrity-loved sneaker brand, Cariuma, I didn’t get a chance to try it myself until recently. TL; DR: Wow, I’m glad I finally got a pair.
Brand kindly sent me Catiba Pro . sneakers on Black Contrast/Ivory, and let’s just say they totally live up to the hype created by A-listers and buyers alike. Let me start with the fact that I’ve had a velcro shoe fixation for quite a while now and have been hesitant to branch out into other styles. When I saw the Catiba Pros, I was immediately drawn to them and that’s probably because they give off a serious skater girl vibe. Some days I like to dress super feminine, other days I like to emulate the trendy off-duty aesthetic and other days I choose clothes that are oversized and casual. It Catiba Pro definitely helps me achieve my goal of looking like a cool ~edgy~ skater girl, which is why I wear it non-stop with baggy jeans and a t-shirt.
Not only these sneakers Look good, but they too feel very comfortable. In fact, they’re much more comfortable than the velcro sneakers I hold close and dear. It Catiba Pro feature mamona oil and bio-based cork inserts and a completely non-slip natural rubber sole. As soon as I stepped into this kick I could feel the arch support and knew I could swing it all day. As usual, I was right. The memory foam insole is everything. FYI, I ordered mine in 6 and would say they fit pretty well in size. However, if you prefer your toes to have extra wiggle room, feel free to go up half a size.

Followed by design from Catiba Pro, the upper is made of three stitches, premium suede and organic cotton canvas, while the lining is made of cotton canvas. Not to mention, the laces are made of recycled plastic and the metal grooves are removed. My shoes have held up pretty well so far, and I definitely see them holding up for the long haul.
Now I know I said these shoes helped me fulfill my skater girl dreams in a purely fashion way, but you can totally wear them while skateboarding. The raw natural gum rubber outsole features a sticky grip and a herringbone pattern that ensures the shoe adheres to your board. You can basically sneak into this sweet kick for any kind of activity or event.
I can’t forget to mention some of Cariuma’s sustainability initiatives. The brand launches itself reforestation program in its founder’s homeland, Brazil. This means that every time he buys sneakers, Cariuma will plant two trees.
