Marvel Studios’ “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever” , the closing film of phase four of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, is now here and can be enjoyed by fans on Disney+ Hotstar. This film, directed by Ryan Coogler, tells the story of Queen Ramonda (Angela Bassett), Shuri (Letitia Wright), M’Baku (Winston Duke), Okoye (Danai Gurira) and Dora Milaje (including Florence Kasumba) who struggle to protect their nation from the intervention of world powers after the death of King T’Challa. The heroes must unite with the help of War Dog Nakia (Lupita Nyong’o) and Everett Ross (Martin Freeman) and forge a new path for the kingdom of Wakanda. The film also introduces Tenoch Huerta Mejía as Namor, the ruler of the underwater civilization, the Talokan.
During the screening of Marvel Studios’ “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever” on the big screen, Talokan was one of the elements that caught a lot of attention. According to producer Ryan Coogler , Wakanda and Talokan have a lot in common where these two countries are hidden countries and have natural resources that the whole world wants. He added that another interesting thing to make the atmosphere of Talokan more alive as an extraordinary underwater country, the scenes were taken using underwater shots technique. “We shot underwater scenes anamorphically – this creates a textured, vintage-looking image quality, so that the protagonist feels like he is in a dreamlike state while in Talokan.” said the Director of Photography Durald Arkapaw . Talokan’s signature red color, which appears at various key moments in Marvel Studios’ “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever”, proves to be quite difficult to see in water. To get around this, the filmmakers used special effects (VFX) technology and costume designer Ruth Carter created incredible costumes using red elements.
In addition to introducing Talokan as a hidden nation that will face Wakanda, this film sequel also tells about the legacy ( legacy ) of T’Challa and Wakanda who are trying to move forward. With the departure of the King, Wakanda must go through a new struggle filled with battles, struggles for power, kingdoms, and also close ties between families.
