Most anime is usually presented in the format of a 24-minute TV series. Even so, not a few anime are also presented in widescreen film format. Typically, anime films are from 60 to 90 minutes in length. However, there are also anime films that are more than 120 minutes or 2 hours long.

The film, directed by MAPPA, tells the story of Suzu Urano, a girl who lives an ordinary life on the outskirts of Hiroshima. However, her life changes drastically when Suzu has to move to the city to marry someone she barely recognizes.

A Silent Voice (2016)

With the theme of bullying, A Silent Voice is one of the most popular anime films among anime fans. This 130 minute or 2 hour 10 minute film tells the story of Shoya Ishida who fills his spare time by bullying Shoko Nishimiya.

When Shoko’s parents decide to transfer their daughter to another school, Shoya is blamed for bullying Shoko. Because of that, Shoya began to be ostracized by the people around him. Regret for his actions, Shoya will do anything to be able to meet Shoko again and apologize for his crimes.

Akira (1988)

Akira is one of the classic anime films that never goes out of style. Even though this film is more than 30 years old, Akira is still one of the best anime films of all time. Produced by Tokyo Movie Shinsa, Akira has a duration of 124 minutes or 2 hours 4 minutes.

Having a duration of 155 minutes or 2 hours 35 minutes, this film is deliberately made long as a sign of farewell to fans who have followed Evangelion’s journey. This film itself tells about Shinji Ikari’s final effort in saving Earth from the new Impact planned by NERV.

Violet Evergarden: The Movie (2020)

Violet Evergarden: The Movie is the sequel to the anime series released in 2018. The film, which was produced by Kyoto Animation, has a duration of 140 minutes or 2 hours 20 minutes. This film tells about the continuation of Violet Evergarden’s journey in understanding human emotions by writing letters.
